Obesity and Diabetes
Obesity is the single most important factor for the current increase in diabetes. Professor Fredrik Karpe is using integrative physiological and genomic approaches to study lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, to find out more about this damaging problem. Professor Karpe is investigating the links between obesity, insulin resistance, type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Professor Karpe initiated the Oxford Biobank for prospective genetic epidemiological research.
