(E2/10) Walking up Queen’s Lane and New College Lane

– I’m fascinated by how quickly all the traffic noise in High Street disappears. Queen’s Lane and New College Lane make me imagine how Oxford sounded 500 years or more ago. I love that I can hear my own footsteps echoing against the walls on both sides of the lane at the same time – sharp sound on one side, and more squishy on the other. That the wall in front of me is coming closer, and the wall to the left or right of me is ending when I need to turn left or right. And the echo when walking under the bridges – like a room with walls and ceiling – and the music coming out of the colleges.
